Alliances can be formed between openness and isolation, light and sound. The existing building, formerly a 1920's engine assembly plant, featured the lofty characteristics of an industrial space of that era.  The new design forms close associations between the otherwise conflicting social and technical aspirations of the studio:  The goal of retaining natural light, open space, and views for the musicians and engineers is balanced with the technical necessity of creating a rich, variable, and soundproof acoustic environment.
