John Hong lectures at CCNY, 10/3

Please join us for John Hong’s lecture, ‘Psychedelic Architecture: Form and Allegory,’ this Thursday 3 October at the Bernard and Anne Spitzer School of Architecture, The City College of New York. The event will begin at 630pm in the Spitzer School of Architecture Sciame Auditorium, 141 Convent Avenue (at W. 135th Street). The lecture is free and open to the public. 1.5 LU/1.5 HSW credits.

Hong will discuss the parallels between the radical social shifts of the 1960’s and early 1970’s and the environmental and societal changes taking place today. Where ‘Metabolist’ and Situationist’ architecture of the ’60’s offered alternative forms of practice and discourse however, Hong calls for a new and more deeply engaged look at form and allegory (as opposed to form and function), that meets the global challenges of today.
